There
are many small, little-known nonprofits located in Boulder County
with creative approaches to addressing the issues that face our community's
disadvantaged children and young adults. The Catalog for
Giving of Boulder County was developed to bring public attention to
these organizations that provide services to youth, but which have
a difficult time finding financial support and other necessary resources.
A
supporting belief of The Catalog is that there are many
individual donors who really want to help, but who also are concerned
that their charitable contributions truly "make a difference"
- particularly on a local basis. Too often it is time consuming
and difficult to connect with these small programs. And while there
are several well-respected organizations that oversee the country's
largest nonprofits, there is little oversight for small community
programs. Dependable information is hard to find.
The
Catalog serves as a valuable tool to increase the visibility
and attract donations for its participating
nonprofits. We have thoroughly researchd these organizations,
meeting with their executive directors and staff, reviewing their
financials and going for on-site visits. We put our full support
behind these nonprofits and the programs they provide for our disadvantaged
youth.
Together,
The
Brett Family Foundation and The
Community Foundation Serving Boulder County joined
efforts to provide this Catalog for the Boulder County community;
with the Brett Family Foundation funding the administrative costs
and The Community Foundation providing program support. This guarantees
that 100% of all donations are distributed to the selected groups.
Donors can earmark funds for a specific nonprofit or leave their
donations unspecified to be distributed equally among the featured
groups.
Along
with your help, we can ensure that these twelve nonprofits continue
their work, benefiting the youth of our community. Please
join us in making a difference in the life of a child.
The
Catalog for Giving was established in 1994 in
New York City with the philosophy that the most highly effective
solutions to the problems facing our troubled youth are located
right in the communities in which they live. The vision of The Catalog
for Giving is to create a network of local affiliates throughout
the United States, replicating its model for success in as many
communities as possible. Boulder County is proud to be the fourth
affiliate.
