On Monday morning, turn on your radio and tune in to 88.5 FM for a fresh episode of the Community Foundation's radio collaboration with KGNU. From 8:35 AM to 9AM, KGNU's "A Public Affair" is hosted by the Community Foundation's Morgan Rogers and Max Taffet. This fourth Monday of the month the duo take on the topic of Boulder County's community openness and attachment. Guests to this months program are Paula Ellis, VP of Strategic Initiatives at the Knight Foundation, and Perla Delgado, from Boulder County's Community Action Program.

The NOVA Award honors innovation in programs/services or innovations in business operations, within Boulder County's non-profit sector.

Nomination are due by 5pm on Monday, April 9, 2012.

The NOVA Awards were established by The Community Foundation in 1997 and will be presented this year at Community Ventures on June 5, 2012.

Great minds contemplate the value of leap years (and days and seconds and…). It seems this oddity in the calendar makes people think! Well, if that’s the case, we at The Community Foundation hope people will think about how to make this leap year meaningful.

The Community Foundation's very own Morgan Rogers and Max Taffet will once again host KGNU's "A Public Affair" program at 8:30am, Monday, February 27th.

Tune in to 88.5FM to hear about access to early childhood education in Boulder County. Richard Garcia, Executive Director of the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition, and Steve Callander, Executive Director of Boulder Day Nursery, will speak about the following:

 The problem Boulder County identified was a huge achievement gap between low income kids and their peers from middle or upper income homes. “Not everyone gets an even start in life,” said the foundation’s Chris Barge. “Children show up to kindergarten with folks who aren’t prepared, who even at kindergarten are so far behind that they are not likely to go to college.” Research showed that Boulder County, despite having one of the most competitive school districts in the state, was failing kids from low income families.
