SEEDs of Resiliency: A new film by Susan Polis Schutz

Susan Polis Schutz, friend of The Community Foundation, has produced a new film, "SEEDS of Resiliency." The film introduces us people to understand that our darkest moments can contain a shining light and introduces us to twelve diverse people who have survived tragedies and challenges by having great hope and helping others.

Root Causes on February 8th

Please join us on February 8th for Root Causes, a nonprofit advocacy cohort for nonprofit providers in Boulder County.   This program is offered in partnership between The Community Foundation, Boulder County Community Services Department and the Colorado Participation Project. Details are attached.

IRA Tax Free Charitable Distribution Available Retroactively for Certain Taxpayers, If Action Taken Before February 1, 2013

The recently enacted American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 brings back, for another year, the popular IRA charitable rollover provision wherein donors age 70½ or older are once again eligible to move up to $100,000 from their IRAs directly to qualified charities without having to pay income taxes on the money. This provision is retroactive to January 1, 2012.

The Community Foundation wants to point out the two following time-sensitive special transition rules incorporated into Act, due to the legislation’s retroactive nature:

Community foundations play a key role in identifying and solving community problems. In 2011, they gave an estimated $4.2 billion to a variety of nonprofit activities in fields that included the arts and education, health and human services, the environment, and disaster relief.
