Arlene Strand

Seventeen years ago my husband and I returned to Nederland after living in Australia for four years. I was homesick for that lovely country, and the many friends we had made living there. By becoming involved in volunteer work I could overcome that feeling of being isolated in a small town where I had not yet had a chance to make friends.

I also had a desire to do something constructive with my senior years. It has certainly been the answer for me. I feel that I'm now part of my community, and the deep friendships I have made are of the utmost importance to me.
