Rocky Mountain Animal Defense
(RMAD) helps to eliminate the human-imposed
suffering of animals in the Rocky Mountain region. Recent efforts
include
playing a major role in coordinating the 2003 Prairie Dog Summit and
establishing Boulder as a bird sanctuary.
RMADs work on behalf of companion animals started in late 2002 by designing a doorknob flyer that explains the appropriate treatment of dogs and cats and promotes low-cost spay/neuter services in the Denver/Boulder area.
Barbara Bear, a volunteer with RMAD, took on the responsibility of leading the project. She researched low-cost spay/neuter clinics in Denver and Boulder as well as contacts for reporting animal abuse. She provided text for the flyer, worked with a translator to develop the Spanish component, and coordinated the design and printing. Not only did Barbara coordinate the kick-off event (which involved distributing 50,000 flyers promoting low-cost veterinary services in the Denver/Boulder area), she baked delicious *vegan goodies for it (*without meat, eggs, dairy or other animal ingredients)!
