Bal Swan Children's Center
The Bal Swan Children's Center serves children birth to kindergarten in an inclusive classroom setting for the Boulder, Broomfield and Adams County region. We would like to share with you about a wonderful volunteer that has supported the Center with forty years of continues service.

Dottie Gillespie has been an extraordinary volunteer at our Center since we began in 1963. Dottie volunteers on a weekly basis in the classrooms, assisting with the educational programming and therapy services for our preschool age disabled children. Often the children with disabilities need one-on-one help to learn new tasks like cutting with scissors, pasting, etc. Dottie is a wonderful help giving this individual attention and encouraging the children’s participation. Dottie uses her skills as a mother and grandmother in relating to both the children and their parents. She incorporates her personal experiences such as extensive travel and hot air ballooning into interactions with the children. Along with volunteering in the classroom Dottie and her husband Bill are also generous contributors to our Center. Not only do they give of their time and money but they also help in getting auction donations for our Ball, which is held in March each year. Dottie Gillespie’s reliability and commitment to us is remarkable! We feel that forty years of loyal volunteering greatly deserves special recognition.
