Pay Range: $18,000 - $21,000 + Benefits (salary based on education and experience)

General Job Description:
Teaching Peace is a growing Longmont nonprofit organization whose mission is to cultivate attitudes skills and opportunities for living peacefully with self, others and the world. Longmont Community Justice Partnership is a busy, restorative justice program of Teaching Peace that delivers services to the City of Longmont and St. Vrain Valley School District. Teaching Peace is an equal opportunity employer.
The Bilingual Restorative Justice Coordinator is currently a part-time position, responsible for coordinating restorative justice processes. This person will be trained as a restorative justice facilitator and a victim’s advocate. Flexible hours are required including some nights and weekends.
General Qualifications:
Bilingual Spanish/English; Appreciation of restorative principles; Ability to work and make decisions independently with minimal supervision; Well organized and detail oriented and have a strong work ethic; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse population including youth and adult volunteers, peers, supervisors, representatives of cooperating agencies, police officers, victims, offenders and the general public; Working knowledge of PC computers, and MS Office & ACCESS applications; Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner; Excellent written & verbal communication in English and Spanish; Capable of effectively speaking in front of groups; Community-minded and knowledgeable of Longmont and its youth-serving agencies is helpful.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating Restorative Justice Processes
- Review crime reports
- Phone contact with victims, offenders, support people, community, schools, police officers, volunteers, etc. to explain process and schedule restorative justice processes
- Mail program materials to participants and others upon request
- Work collaboratively and communicate regularly with partners and other referring agencies
- Maintain clear and complete records in each case file
- Monitor the completion of contracts
Volunteer Support
- Maintain data base of volunteers
- Provide training for volunteer community members
- Facilitate some volunteer facilitator team meetings
- Debrief volunteer facilitators following sessions
- Collaborate on weekly update to volunteer facilitators and community members
- Assist with training of volunteer facilitators and support their professional growth
- Maintain records of facilitators’ participation in advanced trainings and related activities
Program Support
- Participate in biweekly staff meetings
- Create weekly staff update outlining case updates and completions
- Interface with a variety of criminal justice agency representatives
- Collaborate on monthly update to Longmont Police Department
- Perform data entry of program information
- Track statistical program information (including recidivism) on database, as well as scan-trons and any other format upon request
- Provide statistical program information to staff and others upon request
- Brainstorm and problem solve with board, volunteers and staff
- Work with Microsoft Office and ACCESS database
- Prepare reports on various program outcomes
- Facilitate restorative justice circles as needed
- Provide grant support as needed
- Assist in recruiting volunteers
- Conduct training with/for community partners
- Assist with program marketing
- Make public presentations (particularly to Latino community)
- Attend community meetings (i.e. GRIP and Latino Coalition)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education: College degree preferred
- Language: Bilingual Spanish/English required
- Experience: Two years experience with restorative justice or related field preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Background check & Integrity Interview by Longmont Police Department required
