Chris Barge to be new Director of Philanthropic Services
The Community Foundation welcomes Chris Barge.

BOULDER (June 2, 2008) – Chris Barge joins The Community Foundation after a 10-year career in newspapers. He has held a wide range of beats for the Rocky Mountain News, including Colorado and Washington politics, a U.S. Congressional race, the city of Aurora and the suburbs north of Denver.

Before joining the Rocky, Chris was an editor and reporter at the Boulder Daily Camera for five years. There he covered several news beats before being promoted to write in-depth news stories, while also editing the paper's popular outdoor recreation section.

His journalism work has won numerous first-place awards in statewide contests, including Best of Show for a series published by the Daily Camera on a Boulder County couple's downward spiral into the world of methamphetamines.

"The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County and its partners do the kind of work that lies at the heart of what makes this such a great place to live. I'm thrilled to join up with such a worthy cause,” said Chris.

As Director of Philanthropic Services for The Community Foundation, Chris will be responsible for leading efforts with major donors to the Foundation and for partnering with local professional advisors to provide clients with comprehensive philanthropic assistance. Chris will be available at Chris@commfound.org or at 303-442-0436 x110.

“We are very pleased to add someone with Chris’s knowledge of the community to the Foundation’s team," said Josie Heath, President of The Community Foundation. “He has a long history covering this community.  His coverage of The Millennium Trust and his insight about the needs of the community make him just the right person. Chris will be a great ally to donors and their advisors in helping them fulfill their legacy hopes and dreams.”
