SVP Announces New Funding for Boulder County Non-Profits

Social Venture Partners Announces New Funding Opportunities for Boulder County Nonprofits

Boulder, Colo. (October 22, 2008) – Social Venture Partners Boulder County (SVP) released their new funding guidelines this week. SVP is a fund of The Community Foundation which has provided $840,000 and thousands of hours of management consulting to 13 nonprofits in Boulder County.

Since being established in the fall of 2000, SVP has focused on funding youth development programs, early child care and education programs, and economic and educational opportunities for Latinos. The new guidelines were developed based on the input of SVP partners, after reviewing an assessment of community needs (2007 Trends Report).  Overwhelmingly, partners decided to continue to support our youth and the Latino community but felt it was important to recognize the timely opportunity to partner with organizations strengthening health care access and addressing the issue of housing & homelessness.

SVP was established in Fall of 2000 by local venture capitalists and entrepreneurs interested in applying a venture capital approach to giving.  SVP Boulder County is comprised of accomplished individuals who combine the power of business with a passion for philanthropy.  They bring their collective expertise and financial resources to promising nonprofits, collaborating with them to transform the community.

We seek to support organizations that will benefit from a long-term relationship with SVP that will include both financial grants and hands-on volunteer involvement by our partners,” says Jennie Arbogash, SVP executive director.  “Boulder County non-profits working to strengthen educational and economic opportunities for Latinos, provide access to health care, or address issues of housing and homelessness are encouraged to review our 2009 Call for Letters of Inquiry to see if they qualify for funding.”  The complete funding guidelines are available on the SVP homepage at http://www.svpbouldercounty.org.  Prospective grantees must attend a one-hour workshop in November and the deadline for letters of inquiry is January 12, 2009.
