Susan Polis Schutz, friend of The Community Foundation, has produced a new film, "SEEDS of Resiliency." The film introduces us people to understand that our darkest moments can contain a shining light and introduces us to twelve diverse people who have survived tragedies and challenges by having great hope and helping others.

Colorado, again, ranked second to last in a study of state and local support for public higher education, according to a new report by State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO).

In 2012, Colorado finished 48 out of 50 for educational appropriations per full-time equivalent enrolled student in constant 2012 dollars. Specifically, we contributed $2,551 in state and local support for higher education operating expenses, according to the report. Only Vermont contributed less with $2,512. The national average was $5,896.

The Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley School Districts are actively expanding their early childhood education offerings as a result of two successful school funding ballot measures that The Community Foundation helped finance and campaign for.

More than 100 highly committed guests listened from the edge of their seats after braving a Boulder snowstorm Feb. 20 to hear an update on current efforts in early education from three major leaders, sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors.

The Boulder Valley School District has developed a new set of interim Vision, Mission and Goal statements to guide decisions such as budget priorities and policies for the next 3 to 5 years. The public has a chance to weigh in on these goals at three more sessions, including tonight at Fairview High School from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
