Local Heroes

Kitty L. deKieffer

I believe that volunteering and philanthropy should be learned at the earliest age possible. I do what I do not only because I want to model generosity to my son but to show that in volunteering and philanthropy, we are helping Boulder County become that much better of a place to live. When life serves us some bumps, we need to just do some volunteer work or learn about some of the people that our non-profits serve.

Gretchen Beall

Professor Emeritus of College of Music, University of Colorado at Boulder
My own life has been enriched by the arts, from the music in my family to my career at the University. Since retirement, volunteering first in the arts with The Longmont Council for the Arts and the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, and then following other social concerns have helped me to discover and know a whole new community.

Jeanne Deaschner

Volunteering can add a tremendous amount of zest for life. It gives you a purpose for getting up in the morning.

Success Stories

Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools

It could be sixth, seventh, or eighth graders at Casey Middle School receiving personal educational plans and individually guided learning to improve their understanding of mathematical concepts. Or it could be at risk juniors and seniors at Arapahoe Ridge High School participating in activities that reinforce critical skills for success in their renewed quest to graduate from high school.

Community Computer Connection (C3)

The Community Computer Connection, or C3, a supporting organization of The Jared Polis Foundation, connects corporations, organizations, and individuals wishing to donate used computers to schools, non-profits, and community groups.

The Community Foundation Exceeded 2009 Fundraising Goal

In one of the toughest years to raise a dollar, The Community Foundation exceeded its 2009 fundraising goals, raising $5.5 million and granting $4.5 million to non-profit organizations in Boulder County and beyond. Thank you to all who came together to meet this important goal for the community!
