$90,000 Community Foundation grant leveraged to secure $629, 468 for early childhood education

Boulder (July 17, 2009) –  The Community Foundation’s recent and largest unrestricted grant of $90,000 served as leverage for the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition’s Providers Advancing School Outcomes program (PASO) to receive a $629,468 grant from the Statewide Strategic Use Fund (SSUF). In essence, every dollar of The Community Foundation’s original $90,000 investment has been turned into 8 dollars.

BOULDER COUNTY (March 11, 2009) – The 12th annual Open Door Dinner will be on April 11th at the St. Julien Hotel in downtown Boulder.  Rea Carey, Executive Director of the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, will be the keynote speaker.  She will be introduced by recently elected Congressman Jared Polis.

Nonprofit transit organization adds hybrid car to bus fleet

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Special Transit’s newest vehicle, a brightly colored hybrid that will be zipping around town beginning Wednesday, Nov. 12 providing rides to older adults and people with disabilities. Wrapped in purple and teal, the 2009 Toyota Prius is the first of several gas-electric hybrids that the Boulder County nonprofit organization is adding to its fleet to make it more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.

Volunteer "Victims" Needed for Hospital Evacuation and Full Scale Surge Exercise Nov. 13

The setting: Boulder County has been hit by severe weather that damages two major hospitals - victims and hospital patients need to be evacuated and transferred. Volunteer victims and patients will be staged at one of five hosptials: Avista Adventist in Louisville, Boulder Community and Foothills Community in Boulder, Exempla Good Samaritan in Lafayette, and Longmont United. This evacuation and surge drill will test the ability of our local hospitals to respond to naturally occurring disasters. Great project for business teams and service groups. Lunch provided. November 13, 8 am. to noon.

Boulder, Colo. (October 22, 2008) – Social Venture Partners Boulder County (SVP) released their new funding guidelines this week. SVP is a fund of The Community Foundation which has provided $840,000 and thousands of hours of management consulting to 13 nonprofits in Boulder County.
