Local kids are doing their part to turn lemons into lemonade.  Boulder’s Patrick and Wyatt Norman brought in a donation on September 14th, and this week Aric Olson of Nederland represented a group of friends (five and six-year-olds!) from a lemonade and cookie stand that leveraged traffic from leaf viewers up in Nederland.

Fourmile Canyon Revival benefit concert rocked the house

Wow! This weekend was another huge one for the Boulder Mountain Fire Relief Fund. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this incredible community effort.

The Community Foundation Exceeded 2009 Fundraising Goal

In one of the toughest years to raise a dollar, The Community Foundation exceeded its 2009 fundraising goals, raising $5.5 million and granting $4.5 million to non-profit organizations in Boulder County and beyond. Thank you to all who came together to meet this important goal for the community!

Music to Our Ears!

Sounds from flutes, violins, mandolins, pianos, electric guitars, and singers floated out into the hallway from behind different practice room doors. Teachers snapped their fingers to set the beat and could be heard saying, "OK, let's take it again from here." Backpacks were piled on top of the lobby couches, and above and around the sound of busy feet could be heard all over the building. The feel was distinctly "kid," and the time was after-school music lessons at Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts.

I have many fond memories of being a caregiver. At about thirteen years of age, I started a little neighborhood day care for my younger sister and some neighborhood children. By the time I was fourteen or fifteen, I became a candy-striper at a local hospital.
