| Grants Process 2001 |
Request for Concept Letters
Deadline: 5 p.m. Sept. 28, 2001
The grants process for The Community Foundation will be
different this year. In an attempt to reduce the amount
of work required of the nonprofits to submit a full proposal,
The Community Foundation is switching to the concept paper
model. This means that nonprofits will first submit a
two-page concept paper and a budget that will be reviewed
by the Foundation's grants committees. After the first
review, finalists will be asked to submit a full proposal,
which will be similar to proposals submitted to The Community
Foundation in previous years. Funding notifications will
be sent in January.
Application Process
Nonprofit, governmental or other public groups interested
in applying for grants from The Community Foundation are
invited to submit a concept paper describing the proposed
project. The Community Foundation's Grant Committees will
review the concept letters and choose a number of finalists
to submit a full application.
Applicants should submit five
copies of the following:
|
• |
Two page concept letter describing the
organization or project |
| • |
Budget for the project or the organization
as whole (whichever is applicable for the application) |
| • |
Organization

Organization Summary (PDF; 60KB) is also available

The Community Foundation Serving Boulder
County requires that all grant applicants have an anti-discrimination
policy. The Community Foundation strongly recommends that
these policies be broad and inclusive. Specifically, we
strongly recommend that the policy include the categories
which are included in The Community Foundation's Anti-Discrimination
Policy.
Additional attachments will not be considered
in the concept paper phase.
Please do not submit anything other than printed
materials.
Please do not bind proposals.
We accept proposals for specific projects as well as for
unrestricted operating expenses, capital campaigns, start-ups,
endowments and technical assistance. Our grant committees
review each application and make recommendations to our
Board of Trustees for approval. The average grant given
out by the Foundation in 2000 was $3,000. We do consider
larger and smaller requests. We are also specifically
requesting $5,000 proposals for general operations for
those organizations that serve basic human needs and proposals
that promote intra-agency collaborative efforts.
Eligibility Criteria
• Organizations that received a grant in 2001 must
return their evaluation forms BY SEPT. 1, 2001. Failure
to respond will have a negative impact on our consideration
of your proposal.
• We only fund organizations that have received
§501(c)(3) or other nonprofit status from the IRS.
• The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County
does not make grants to organizations where grant money
would be used to further a particular political or religious
doctrine.
Full Proposals:
Nonprofit organizations that are invited to submit a full
proposal should use the Colorado Common Grant Application
Format. The Grant Committees will seek additional information
if needed, and may make a site visit as part of the evaluation
process.
