Golf makes giving a ball

Lake Valley Golf Club invites people to grab a few friends, pick a tee time, and be members for a day to benefit the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County.

Lake Valley Golf Club will open its doors to non-members on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 to benefit The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County.

The Community Foundation exists to encourage philanthropy and improve the quality of life in Boulder County, now and forever. Through the Community Trust and donor advised funds, the foundation distributes funding to Boulder County nonprofits, as well as providing nonprofits with technical assistance. Like other community foundations around the country, The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County is specialized in its ability to track emerging community trends and assist both donors and nonprofits in addressing the underlying issues.

Lake Valley General Manager, Mitch Galnick, approached The Community Foundation because the club wanted to work with a nonprofit that could, in turn, positively impact philanthropy and numerous other nonprofits in Boulder County. Galnick also wanted to do something different than the typical golf tournament.

"Rather than hosting the same old shotgun scramble our Members thought area golfers would enjoy being our guest for the day. This way they can arrange a convenient tee time, come out and warm -up, play their own ball, play the course from the first tee and have a nice meal," says Galnick, "They can do all this with their friends, in a casual, relaxed way at no more cost than a round of golf and a cart at other local public courses. And to top it all off, they will receive a unique golf gift and the joy of knowing that they are supporting a great organization that benefits the entire County at a time where non-profits really need the help."
