Community Foundation reaches $25M goal early

The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County has reached its goal of raising $25 million in assets more than a year ahead of schedule, the nonprofit announced Monday.

"We set this goal for assets because it would mean that we could be absolutely assured of giving away at least $1 million every year in grant money to nonprofit groups," said foundation President Josie Heath. The foundation pays out about 5 percent each year on the value of its endowed funds.

In 2000, with just more than $10 million in assets, the foundation's trustees set a goal to have $25 million in assets by the end of 2005. Several large year-end gifts in 2003 helped the foundation arrive at its goal early, the agency said.
