A broad collection of people representing Boulder's business,
educational and charitable communities gathered Thursday
for the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County's
sixth annual Community Stars luncheon at the Boulder Theater.
The foundation honored several individuals and groups
for their efforts to make the Boulder area a better place.
Doris Hass received the Stan Black Award for her wide
range of philanthropic efforts throughout the years. Among
her endeavors: She co-founded the Boulder Public Library
Foundation, hosted students through the Boulder Friends

at the Wardenburg Health Center and serves as a board
member of the Boulder County Latina Women's League and
Global Response.
Marilyn Tiedke received the "Pat on the Back"
award for her volunteer efforts six days a week between
the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the Humane Society
of Boulder Valley; she also shops and delivers groceries
to homebound seniors and provides car rides and companionship
to isolated seniors, among other things.
And Josie Heath, president of the Community Foundation,
was given the third SuperNova award for her leadership
of the nonprofit group, including growing its assets to
more than $27 million.
Several groups received Nova Awards:
