Conceived over two years
ago by a handful of community members, The Culture of
Giving’s mission is to create a more connected
and stronger community providing information, resources,
and tools to grow Boulder County’s philanthropic
culture (volunteering, $ donations, donations of services,
etc.). More than 300 (and growing) non-profit organizations
can be viewed by logging onto our website at www.cultureofgiving.org.
This year The Culture of Giving is sponsoring
its first "The Vision of Giving" art contest.
We are inviting middle and high school age students
to participate. 1st, 2nd,and 3rd place awards ($500,
$300 & $200) will be given in both the Middle School
and the High School categories, with half of each award
to be donated to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s
choice.
All entries submitted should
be:
• |
A wall piece suitable for display (please
fit with wire on back) |
• |
11x17 total maximum dimensions |
• |
Prepared in the medium of the student’s
choice |
| • |
Accompanied by a brief narrative on
how the work relates to the student's vision of
a culture of giving
(e.g., how it improves our quality of life, what
happens when people do not support nonprofit organizations,
etc.) |
Entries should be submitted
by 5pm on November 3, 2003, at The Community Foundation,
1123 Spruce Street, Boulder. Award recipients will be
notified sometime between November 3rd & 14th; the
Art Contest Committee will work with recipients to select
a nonprofit beneficiary. An awards ceremony and celebration
will be held during Culture of Giving Week on December
9th from 5:30-7pm at The Dairy Center for the Arts.
The Dairy will display the art from mid-November through
early January. The Art Contest Committee is currently
finding other future display sites and working with
local newspapers to cover the contest. Artwork may possibly
be scanned and used in broader Culture of Giving marketing/advertising
efforts. To make arrangements for return of artwork,
please contact Gretchen, per below.
