IMPACT Day is the Deloitte U.S. Firms’ national day of volunteer service. IMPACT Day is not just a day of volunteerism; it is a celebration of our year-round commitment to volunteerism. Projects are locally-driven to support specific community needs and respond to the diverse interests of our people. IMPACT Day was originated by the legacy Deloitte Consulting firm in 2000 and is now being held nationally by the Deloitte U.S. Firms All our people are encouraged to set aside their work for the day and participate. When is IMPACT Day? IMPACT Day is on Friday, June 6, 2008. Check with your local IMPACT sponsor or lead for the details of your office’s IMPACT Day schedule and activities. Who is participating in IMPACT Day? All U.S. Firms’ offices will offer volunteer activities in the local community as part of IMPACT Day. All our people regardless of function or career level, are encouraged to participate and to team with colleagues to serve the community, however participation is always voluntary. Our retired partners are invited to participate. Several global offices will also host IMPACT Day. What types of volunteer activities will be offered? IMPACT Day sponsors and leads in each office will identify service projects that meet specific needs in the local community and that align with the volunteer interests in the local office. Offices are encouraged to identify projects which enable our people to help the community using our skill sets and to make a lasting difference through capacity building for the non-profit. Examples of the diverse projects done by IMPACT Day include delivering customer service training and job skill development at the Greater DC area Goodwill, computer networking at a Ronald McDonald House, and database development at the Harris County (Houston), TX Department of Health. Where should I participate? You should participate with your local office. IMPACT Day is designed to provide team building and networking opportunities for our people with others in their local office. Teaming together in community-focused activities provides a forum for our people to make a difference be part of our tangible commitment to our communities, renew local office connections, and meet new colleagues. For those working outside of an office location, contact your local IMPACT Day lead for details. Why should I participate in IMPACT Day? IMPACT Day provides an opportunity to make a difference in your local community and to demonstrate the U.S. Firms’ shared values. There will be a wide variety of volunteering options. For many of our people, this is the only opportunity during the year to network with their colleagues in their local office, from other functions, practices, and career levels, in support of a common goal.
