About the Event:
BOULDER COUNTY AIDS PROJECT - Multicultural Committee meets every second Thursday of the Month @ 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Multicultural Committee BCAP's Board of Directors created the Multicultural Committee (MC) in late 1995. This committee, made up of individuals from the community, Board members and staff, has worked to advise the agency toward the goal of becoming multiculturally proficient. The MCDC has completed state-of-the-art assessments of the staff, volunteers and Board in regards to multicultural proficiency*, has offered and implemented recommendations on diversity training, hiring practices, Board recruitment and more. *The MCDC defines Multicultural Proficiency as: An individual displays multicultural proficiency by valuing human differences such as race, sexual orientation, age, faith, gender, ability and income. The multicultural proficient individual extends love, compassion and mutuality to all. An organization displays multicultural proficiency by fostering leaders who align process and practice with purpose. The multicultural proficient individual and organization act as agents of change by modeling critical thinking and processes; encouraging dialogue and exploration of alternatives; challenging assumptions and beliefs; conducting culture-based research and disseminating its results. The multicultural proficient organization hopes that by doing the above, others are inspired to partake in similar efforts and add to the knowledge base of multicultural competent practice and policy
