Culture of Giving Junior Philanthropy Coordinator

The Culture of Giving Movement is The Community Foundation’s initiative to connect residents of Boulder County with the work, needs, and philanthropic opportunities of the county’s non-profit organizations. The ultimate goal of The Culture of Giving Movement is to increase giving (money or time) in the county and to truly identify Boulder County as a place possessing a philanthropic culture. www.cultureofgiving.org

The youth-focused arm of The Culture of Giving Movement is the Junior Philanthropy Program—consisting of both the Middle/High School Art Contest and a new program still in development. Junior Philanthropy strives to engage, educate, and support youth in being active and giving members of their community. The Community Foundation’s Director of Advancement oversees the Culture of Giving Movement, including the Junior Philanthropy Program. Philanthropiece is the title sponsor of the Junior Philanthropy Program and a hands-on partner in the program’s development and implementation. The Junior Philanthropy Coordinator will be a consultant for Philanthropiece, but supervised by The Community Foundation’s Director of Advancement.


Responsibilities of the Junior Philanthropy Coordinator

BVSD & SVSD Art Contest
* Develop relationships with middle and high school art teachers and art-related non-profit organizations
* Promote contest
* Make classroom presentations
* Organize submission of art entries and hang art show
* Coordinate contest judging and communications with winning artists
* Plan art show event

Both Programs
* Ongoing program development, including research and networking about related programs in the field of philanthropy, educational trends, etc.
* Media Relations
* Fundraising
* Budget creation, tracking, and reporting
* Evaluation
* Regular program development/supervision meetings with The Community Foundation’s Director of Advancement
* Meetings with The Community Foundation’s Director of Advancement and Philanthropiece representatives, as needed

Qualifications
* Self-starter
* Experience working/volunteering in schools or youth/education programs
* Experience managing and recruiting volunteers
* Knowledge about philanthropy/civic engagement
* Ability to build effective and positive professional relationships in a multi-faceted setting and to provide flexible and site-specific leadership and support to program participants
* Strong skills in: written and verbal communication; organization, meeting facilitation, and basic budget creation/tracking
* Strong computer skills and Internet-based research skills

Requirements
* Available to work a minimum of 20 hours/week beginning immediately
* Set up to work from a home office
* Own transportation


Compensation
$25/hour (more details available during interview)
