SATURDAY JULY 19 -- The Nomad Theater
1410 Quince St, just Off Broadway
A French - Spanish Double Feature!!
7pm
Côte d'Azur (Crustaces et Coquillages)
Directors: Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau (96 mins)
For their summer vacation, Marc and Beatrix take their teenage children to
the shore, where their daughter promptly takes off with her new biker
boyfriend and their son entertains his gay friend, who's in love with him.
The farce begins when Beatrix -- the ever so lovely and sexy Valeria
Bruni Tedeschi -- rushes to assume, with delight, that her son Charly is
gay (even though he continues to deny it). Then, her own secret lover
shows up for midnight romps, and later Marc's old flame also emerges from
the, uh, bushes.
In and out of ongoing sexual-farce complications and giddy musical numbers
about shellfish and cockles, "Côte d'Azur" presents a civilized utopia
where a loving family life is enhanced, rather than threatened, by a
breezy acceptance of multigenerational pansexuality. Writer-directors
Ducastel and Martineau set their ideal world in a sensual, sandy French
seaside village where rampant desire and the aphrodisiac qualities of
snails and mussels are everywhere!
If you couldn't get to the Riviera on your own this summer, enjoy the sun
and fun the Bent way!

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE...
2nd Feature @
9:30pm
20 Centimeters
Director: Ramon Salazar
With an Almodovarian twist and the flamboyance to match it, director
Ramón Salazar's tells the story of Marieta (convincingly played by Mónica
Cervera) a narcoleptic, transsexual who longs to get rid of 8 inches (20
centimeters) of equipment that separates her from being the glamorous
woman she dreams to be. When she accidentally falls asleep, usually at
the most inopportune times, Marieta's dreams become lavish and colorful
musical numbers -- as a full woman, she can sing in Spanish, French &
English.
In song and dance numbers reminiscent of everything from Zeigfield to
"Chicago," Marieta and her crew deliver the best in all three languages.
After playing hard to get when her handsome love object keeps showing up
on his motorcycle, revving his engine just for her, finally she takes the
plunge -- only to find, he loves her 20 centimeters!
Multi-talented star, Mónica Cervera, who made her North American debut in
Álex de la Iglesia's Perfect Crime in 2005, brings humor and appropriate
angst to the role. Her unique look and ability to deliver in various
musical styles -- everything from Queen's "I Want to Break Free" to
Madonna's "True Blue" -- adds additional pizazz to this already comic and
frothy Spanish import...sizzle, sizzle.
