The Boulder Asian Pacific Alliance is pleased to announce the 14th Annual Boulder Asian Festival to be held Saturday August 16 and Sunday, August 17, 2008, on the Pearl Street Mall in front of the Boulder County Courthouse in downtown Boulder. The festival will be held from 11am to 5pm on both days. This event is free and open to the public. We are also excited to announce that this year, the festival will be a Zero-Waste event. The Boulder Asian Festival showcases the arts and culture of local Asian-Pacific communities through music, song, dance, visual artistry, crafts and food. Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino, Hawaiian, Indian, Thai and Tibetan cultures are just some of the groups that will be represented. Stage performances will include: Classical dances from India, Philippines, China and Polynesia, music played on traditional instruments from Japan and Bali, the popular Chinese Lion Dance and martial arts demonstrations. Performances by Wendy Woo and Denver Taiko will close the festival on Sunday evening. Craft and merchandise booths will feature vendors selling clothing, handcrafted jewelry, paintings and other gifts. A children’s tent will also be available and will have various children’s activities and crafts. About the Boulder Asian Pacific Alliance Formed in 1994, the Boulder Asian Pacific Alliance (BAPA) is a coalition of representatives from diverse Asian-Pacific populations, the second largest minority group in Boulder.
