As a young boy I inherited a
disease from my father. At a real early age my teeth started to come in
and they weren't getting white. So later on the dentist capped my teeth
with silver. When I went to school kids called me rude names. I used to
go home in tears almost everyday.
It hurt the most when people called
me names like lockjaw, jaws, metal mouth, silver tooth, can opener, and
shredder. It was so hurtful one day that I wanted to stay inside my
house and never leave again.
As time went on, people kind of left me alone and cut back on the names
but now it was more of a stare that people were giving me. I felt so
different from a normal kid. Later on as I started to get older, people
would always ask, 'Why are your teeth like that?'or they would tell me
that I must have eaten a lot of candy and say that's why my teeth were
so ugly. I tried to ignore it, but it still hurt.
By the time I had turned 13 years old, a dentist would say, 'By the
time he's 16 he should have white caps.' I got my hopes up and then a
dentist told me I wouldn't be able to afford it, so my dreams were
shattered.
It was a lot worse when I was a teenager because people would point at me and girls used to dislike me.
Then I came to a great dentist, Dr. James Mobley at Dental Aid. He
helped me get my wish; he began to fix my teeth and it changed my whole
life. Now I love to smile and I love me.
