Statement
of Purpose/Activities:
Dialogues on Immigrant Integration coordinates facilitated
community dialogues throughout Boulder County with immigrants
and people born in the US. Dialogues on Immigrant Integration
seeks: 1) to build understanding between immigrant and
established communities; 2) to improve relationships
among immigrants and US-born residents of Boulder County;
and 3) to foster community-based actions that respond
to issues of immigrant integration. Our vision is a
diverse Boulder County with a commitment to welcome,
value and encourage the full participation of all County
residents in every aspect of community life.
Community dialogue events include: Dialogue Groups –
Groups of 8 to 14 people meet weekly for 5 or more weeks
to deeply discuss issues around immigrant integration,
such as education, culture, jobs and the economy, and
more. Dialogue Day – Small- and large-group dialogue
activities engage participants in a dynamic one-day
event for 50 or more people. Action & Celebration
Forum – Previous dialogue participants move their
ideas into action, and Dialogues on Immigrant Integration
provides technical assistance, seed money, and other
support.
Meeting Dates/Times: Community dialogue
event meeting times vary; schedules and flyers are distributed
via e-mail networks and other means during registration.
Internal meetings include monthly Steering Committee
meetings and subcommittee meetings as needed. (Subcommittees
include: Dialogue, Outreach, Evaluation, Action, Budget
and Administration, and a Communications Task Force.)
Are the meetings open to the public?
Community dialogue events are open to the public, with
advance registration by phone or e-mail. We welcome
participation in subcommittees of interested persons,
who should contact our office for information. Steering
Committee membership is by invitation; we recruit new
members each fall when there are vacancies (contact
us if you are interested).
