The ELI Mentoring Program will provide a model to bring emerging, inspiring leaders and current (formal and informal) community leaders together to address the upcoming leadership turnover and provide broader engagement of diverse communities. This program has two primary audiences—emerging leaders and current leaders. The mentees, Emerging Leaders, will consist of individuals who may be serving on boards or looking to serve on boards, non-profit staff, nonprofit clients and key volunteers. The current leaders, Mentors, will consist of veteran non-profit board members, staff, and volunteers, as well as informal community leaders.
The ELI Mentoring Program will make mentor matches of a one-year commitment. Each mentor match will meet at least two hours per month. Twice annually, all mentor matches will participate in a professional development opportunity sponsored by The Community Foundation. Both Mentors and Emerging Leaders will receive a stipend for their continued commitment to the program at the end of the year completion.
Formal mentoring/coaching training will be provided to the mentors twice a year with training provided through the Community Resource Center. The first training will include an overview for effective mentorship relationships and provide useful coaching tools and skills. The second training will provide follow up and support training identified by the mentors.
The ELI Mentoring Program will provide a monthly newsletter for mentor matches. This newsletter will highlight upcoming program related events, additional community engagement opportunities, and helpful professional development stories and tools.
