Katie is the Media Specialist at Heatherwood Elementary School in the Boulder Valley School District. Issues of equity in education have been a passion for her during the years she has spent in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms throughout Boulder County, including Longmont, Boulder, Erie, Gunbarrel, and Nederland.
Katie earned a bachelor’s degree in American Literature and a master’s degree in English, both from Middlebury College, Vermont. She later completed her teacher licensure at CU-Boulder. Katie and her husband, John, have been actively involved with the Community Foundation and donors to the School Readiness Fund and Salute Colorado, as well as early contributors to A Queer Endeavor and the ELPASO Movement. They live in North Boulder with their three children.
