A lot of positive momentum has developed in both of Boulder County’s school districts this week:

* Congratulations to St. Vrain Valley Schools, where voters on Tuesday resoundingly approved a much-needed mill levy override that will increase revenue by $14.8 million annually! Check out the news story, as well as this great editorial congratulating local voters and calling on the state to fix the education funding crisis once and for all. The Community Foundation supported this campaign because of St. Vrain’s leadership on early learning for at-risk kids.

* In other positive news, The Boulder Valley School District last weekend held an important Community Consensus retreat where more than 100 community leaders over the course of two days offered their ideas about new goals for the district to tackle over the next five years. We were impressed by the process, and left hopeful that it will lead to increased focus on early learning for at-risk kids. Here’s Superintendent Bruce Messinger’s blog entry about the experience.
