Community Partner Spotlight: Colorado State Bank and Trust

For Mimi Goodman and Lisa O’Brien, partnering with The Community Foundation was a logical decision.

“We have a responsibility to contribute to making this community the kind of community we want to live in,” says Goodman, vice president and trust officer, Colorado State Bank and Trust. That’s a closely-held commitment she shares with O’Brien, also a vice president at the bank that prides itself on community service as a crucial component of its culture.

“We want to support organizations that make Boulder a better community,” continues Goodman. “I live and work in this community, and I appreciate The Community Foundation’s long history and focus on serving Boulder County.

“No one better understands the needs of our community than the foundation’s leadership.”

Indeed, the bank’s community commitment relies on a clear understanding of community needs. “That’s why we’ve developed meaningful relationships with hundreds of nonprofit partners across eight states where we have banking centers,” Goodman says. “In addition to working with community and business leaders, public officials and other partners, The Community Foundation helps us to identify and address the unique challenges of Boulder County.

“The foundation has developed – and continues to develop – impressive expertise within our community. Its board members, too, have a long history here, which translates to a strong sense of caring for this community.”

Goodman and O’Brien, her private banking partner, started working at Colorado State Bank and Trust in 2010. “For both of us, The Community Foundation was at the top of our list in terms of organizations that we wanted to support. We both had a connection to the foundation before we came to the bank.

“The foundation has proven to be a very flexible partner in terms of working around our schedules and allowing us to be more or less engaged over time.”

Goodman and O’Brien enjoy attending foundation events and workshops, as well as going on site visits. “We like to stay in touch with the work the foundation is doing, and engage with other supporters to make our community stronger.

“We all need to be involved, and we all need to invest in organizations and initiatives that tangibly improve and strengthen our quality of life here.”
