Community Trust Grants Hit a Record!

Boulder County
(February 8, 2008) —The Community Foundation’s 2007 Community Trust Grants
will be awarded, during a reception on February 12^th, 6-7:30pm at
the Outlook Hotel. More than $170,000
will be awarded to more than 100 Boulder
County non-profit
organizations—a record for the Foundation’s unrestricted endowment.

Sixty community volunteers served on eight committees to
review more than 130 funding proposals, conduct organizational site visits, and
draft recommendations to The Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees about
which proposals should be funded. In total, volunteers contributed time to 38
meetings between November and December 2007. This resident-participation
approach to grant decisions is unique to The Community Foundation serving Boulder County.

“Serving on the Community Trust Grants
committee provides us with an invaluable opportunity to learn about the
terrific work done by myriad boulder county non-profit organizations,” said
Community Trust Grant Committee Volunteer, Rhonda Wallen. “The rigorous
evaluation process that we go through really helps us to focus on the needs of
the community as a whole and evaluate how each organization is able to
contribute to filling those needs. And of course the best part is seeing
how grants from the Community Trust can help the selected organizations
continue to do great things!”
