Donor Spotlight: Kothari family gives both time and treasure

Ashish and Lizzie Kothari – along with their young son, Ashwin – share a sense of gratitude and compassion, along with a commitment to actively help their neighbors in need.

“Since we moved here from Chicago five years ago, the Boulder community has been wonderful to take us in and make us feel at home,” says Ashish. “When COVID-19 hit, my wife and Ashwin started helping our elderly neighbors – and when I saw the announcement of the Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund Boulder County, we decided to donate together as a family.

“It’s a way to give back to this community.”

Indeed, 10-year-old Ashwin contributed 10% of his savings to the fund. “When I see the news, and I see how many people have been affected by the Coronavirus, I want to help,” he says. “That’s why I donated, and why I made Easter cards and bookmarks for the older people on our street, too.”

Ashwin and his mom have also taken on shopping for an older couple in their neighborhood. “It makes me feel really good that other people are getting the stuff that I have,” he adds.

“We’re so lucky to live here,” Lizzie chimes in. “And we’re so glad to do what we can to help our immediate community, even in small ways. I wish we could do more.”

It seems the Kothari family is doing a lot, already. Won’t you join them?

Your Community Foundation established the COVID-19 Response Fund Boulder County to ensure essential services for community members who find themselves at the intersection of being most vulnerable to the virus and most impacted by inequity.

At this critical time, investing in continuing access to care, food, hygiene, shelter, housing and other services for the most vulnerable is important to keeping the entire community healthy. Learn more, and please consider making a donation of any amount.
