Meet the Staff: Jeff Johnson

Jeff Johnson joined the finance team at the community foundation in November of 2023 as our Controller. Having worked a majority of his career in the world of nonprofit finance, Jeff brings a wealth of experience to the team. But spreadsheets and audits aren't all Jeff is passionate about! He's always on the hunt for a new adventure in the mountains, a home improvement project to dive into, and the best breakfast burrito in town. Learn more about Jeff and his work at the community foundation.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I have had the pleasure to call Colorado home for 13 years and now live in Broomfield with my wife and two young children. When I am not working at the foundation, I spend most of my time working on home improvement projects or pursuing outdoor activities in the mountains.

Why the community foundation?

I have always had a love of working within the non-for-profit industry and have spent most of my career working within it. The community foundation creates an opportunity to work in both the non-for-profit finance and philanthropic space.  When you combine this with being a member of the local community, working with the foundation is a wonderful opportunity.

What do you like best about your work in the finance department?

I enjoy working with our great finance team. Our small group is extremely experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to working within the community foundation industry. Our team makes it fun to come into work every day and I look forward to what puzzles we may solve and what challenges we work through as a team. Having the ability to learn from my peers daily create a great work atmosphere.

Which of our values most resonates with you and why?

Collaboration!!! As a community, we must work together to achieve the largest impact to our community. I love seeing the various groups come together within our organization to achieve success.

Any favorite community foundation memories you’d like to share?

I enjoyed attending my first grantee reception over this past winter. It was a wonderful event and chatting with the various grantees was a true pleasure.
