Can you start by telling us about yourself?

My name is Lexi Brown and I have lived in Boulder County for a little over a year now! I started as the Development Assistant in September 2023. After receiving my BA at the University of Cincinnati, I began working at a local community foundation in my hometown in Southeastern Indiana. I am grateful for the opportunity to live and work in my hometown after college, but I was ready to take on a new adventure and decided Colorado was the perfect place to start. I love traveling, hiking, visiting family, and exploring local coffee shops.

Why the community foundation?

From volunteering at a young age to my first mentorship program my senior year of high school at a community foundation, I have always loved being a part of the philanthropic space. The community foundation creates an opportunity for me to learn more about the community I live and work. Just from my few months working at CFBC, I have met so many amazing community members that are doing great work for our community. I am fortunate to work with our exceptional staff at CFBC and have the opportunity to grow professionally and personally.

What excites you most about your work as the Development Assistant?

I love being able to support our Development team with daily tasks. I have the opportunity to support donors through our online portal and learn more about their philanthropic giving. I also really enjoy collaborating with our finance, grants, and programs teams to provide resources to our donors and nonprofit partners.

Which of our values most resonates with you and why?

While all of our values are important to the work of the community foundation, the one that resonates the most with me is humanity. The community foundation provides resources and support for all members of our community. The work we are doing centered around equity and trust-based philanthropy to serve our community and help each other grow aligns with my personal goals and values.

What’s your favorite activity in Boulder County?

I love hiking around Boulder County. I love the proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park and being able to get out and explore this beautiful space every day.
