On September 29, the U.S. Department of Energy sent a proposal to the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that would, if adopted, subsidize aging and uncompetitive coal plants and nuclear reactors. If implemented, this rule could hold back the deployment of cleaner technologies and energy efficiency measures. A bipartisan group of former FERC commissioners have filed a letter opposing the rule.

Join the Environmental Grantmakers Association and the Climate and Energy Funders Group for a funder conversation that will review the implications of the upcoming proposed rule on ratepayer subsidies for coal and nuclear plants and address strategic leverage points for philanthropy.

Moderator: Scott Denman, Director and Philanthropic Advisor, Independent Council for Safe Energy Fund
