TCF to Feature Youth Risk Behavior Survey Results on KGNU’s “A Public Affair”

What percentage of Boulder County high school students are bullied at school? Have safe sex? Have someone to talk to when they feel depressed? On Monday morning, tune into 88.5 FM for a fresh episode of the Community Foundation’s radio collaboration with KGNU. From 8:35AM to 9AM the fourth month of every month, The Community Foundation’s Morgan Rogers and Barbara Green host KGNU’s “A Public Affair.” On Monday October 22, 2012, Barbara will tackle the topic of youth health-risk behaviors, captured by the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), ranging from drug use to texting-while-driving to unprotected sex.

Guests to this month’s program include Leisha Conners Bauer of Boulder County’s Healthy Youth Alliance, as well as local high school students Sophie Duncan and Michael Clymer, who are members of the county’s Youth Opportunities Advisory Board. We’ll delve into local trends in youth pressures and behaviors, discuss disparities across YRBS results, and share tips on what parents and community members can do to better support our youth. Join us Monday morning, and start off your week with fresh insight into the community you live in and care about.

Tune into 88.5 FM and 1390 AM in Boulder/Denver and 93.7 FM in Nederland. You can also listen online at www.KGNU.org.
