Flexible funding empowers Community Trust grantees throughout Boulder County.

The Community Foundation Boulder County announced today $332,935 in grants to 130 Community Trust grantees comprising Boulder County nonprofits focused on health and human services, children and youth, education, civic engagement, arts and culture, and animals and the environment.

“It’s a very competitive process,” says Elvira Ramos, Vice Presidents of Programs and Inclusive Leadership, who oversees the Community Trust grant cycle. “This year, we received 190 requests for funding.”

A permanent grantmaking fund of the Community Foundation, the Community Trust is the most flexible and responsive of the foundation’s funds, driven by members of the community who evaluate proposals as part of the application review process. “Our community-driven grantmaking is unique because, every fall, nearly 70 Boulder County residents volunteer their time to review proposals from nonprofit organizations, make site visits and recommend funding,” adds Ramos.

Foundation staff manage the review process, facilitate committee meetings and present the committees’ grant recommendations to the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Community Trust grants are exclusively for activities or projects in Boulder County and for the benefit of Boulder County residents – from specific projects and programs to unrestricted expenses (general operating), and capital campaigns.
