Community Foundation Boulder County appoints Trisha McKean as chief development officer
The experienced university advancement leader will help foster connections with individuals and
organizations, empowering the local community to navigate its most significant challenges
BOULDER, Colo. — Community Foundation Boulder County today announced the hire of Trisha McKean
as Chief Development Officer. In this role, McKean will develop strategies to deepen community
relations and increase donations while encouraging collaboration for maximum benefit.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Trisha’s talents supplementing our incredible staff, board,
donors and community partners,” said Tatiana Hernandez, CEO of Community Foundation Boulder
County. “As a long-time local, Trisha understands our community’s most urgent needs, and is uniquely
qualified to collaborate with community members to advance our mission.”
McKean brings a wealth of advancement and engagement expertise to the Community Foundation
Boulder County team. In her previous position as Assistant Dean of Advancement at the University of
Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business, she oversaw record-breaking levels of fundraising and
engagement, including completing high-visibility campaigns such as the Rustandy Building expansion.
Prior to the Leeds School, McKean served on the development team for Georgetown University’s
McDonough School of Business, similarly focused on traveling the country engaging constituents to
match their philanthropic passions with the school’s strategic priorities.
McKean holds an executive master’s in leadership from Georgetown and a bachelor’s in economics with
an emphasis in management from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She lives in Boulder with her
family.
“With the recent crises in Boulder, I have been reflecting a lot on how I can leverage my talents to more
directly impact the community,” said McKean. “I am committed to staying in Boulder to raise my family
and support the amazing work happening on the ground in Boulder County. I am excited by the
opportunity and challenges to deepen the relationships with Community Foundation Boulder County’s
partners in building a more equitable and vibrant Boulder County.”
At the Leeds School, McKean also started the college’s first corporate relations program, launched the
Leeds Ascending Scholarship Initiative, facilitated many cross-campus and systemwide donor gifts, and
recruited a talented team of values-aligned advancement professionals.
“Trisha has made a tremendous impact on our advancement efforts over the last 17 years, and I am
extremely grateful for her many contributions and service to the university,” said Philip P. DiStefano,
Chancellor of the University of Colorado Boulder. “I am excited that, in her new role, Trisha will have the
opportunity to build upon the strong relationship between the community and the university, and I look
forward to continuing our positive work together.”
