Community Foundation Boulder County announced $9,423 in grants from the Veterans Fund to three nonprofits serving local veterans, including Boulder County RSVP Board dba Cultivate, Qualified Listeners Corp and Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement (HOPE).

“Today the Community Foundation Boulder County joins in the collective salute to honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces. We are proud to recognize the service of the nearly 14,000 Boulder County veterans. Their unique experiences, perspectives, and leadership are vital to the community in all aspects of community life,” said Tatiana Hernandez, CEO of the Community Foundation.

The Veterans Fund at Community Foundation Boulder County makes grants to nonprofit organizations that are essential to the well-being of Boulder County veterans. Historically, the Committee has funded projects that provide outreach to isolated veterans, create a space where veterans can gather, facilitate the connection between older and younger veterans, and identify best practices for services to veterans.

Specifically, the Veterans Fund – a permanent endowment of the Community Foundation – grants to programs that support the strengths and needs of local veterans and their families; builds community among veterans, including efforts by veterans to help other veterans; fosters education about veterans’ issues; and creates dialogue between veterans and the general community. Grantees are chosen by an advisory committee comprised of community members who are veterans, or who are family members of veterans; or who have direct experience providing veterans’ services. In summary, current Veterans Fund grantees and grant amounts include:

Cultivate ($3141)

Cultivate provides five Safety Net Services which directly impact adults age 60+ while creating meaningful volunteer opportunities that directly impact the quality of life of seniors and their families. This grant supports the VetsGo program, providing medical transportation for US Military veterans age 60+ and their senior family members.

HOPE-Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement ($3,141)
HOPE exists that the unhoused may have a home. This grant supports services to unhoused veterans.

Qualified Listeners Corp ($3141)
Qualified Listerners is a Veteran & Family Resource Hub for transportation or housing issues, mobility challenges, food or clothing needs, legal problems, substance abuse, VA benefits and other assistance inquiries. This grant will support transportation of Veterans who are Boulder County residents to medical appointments and other errands.
