“We’re committed to building an internal culture where all employees feel welcome, and are valued for their diverse perspectives and contributions.”
On April 20, Community Foundation Boulder County and Out Boulder County are partnering to host “The Gayla” – the evolution of the foundation’s annual Open Door Fund dinner, this year benefitting LGBTQ+ programs of Out Boulder County, in addition to a host of grantees of the foundation’s Open Door Fund.
Seagate – a global leader in data storage solutions – is one of the top five employers in Boulder County, and the largest business employer in the City of Longmont.
”Employees at Seagate’s Longmont facility held their first Pride group meeting a year ago,” says Jeff Hirota, CEO, Community Foundation Boulder County. “Since then, Seagate has extended its support into the community. The company has been an incredible local partner, and the leading sponsor of the 2018 Longmont and Boulder Pride celebrations.”
Adds Mardi Moore, Executive Director of Out Boulder County, “We believe Seagate deserves this year’s award because they have touched the lives of so many in our community, in such a short time.”
“What an honor to receive the Corporate Changemaker award,” says Chris Woldemar, VP of Product Development Engineering, and Executive Champion of Seagate’s Pride Group in Longmont. “It means a lot to us at Seagate to be a part of such positive change in our community.”
“Seagate’s support of the LGBTQ+ community aligns with one of our key company values – inclusion,” said Woldemar. “We’re committed to building an internal culture where all employees feel welcome, and are valued for their diverse perspectives and contributions.”
Indeed, according to Woldemar, “Diversity of thought is what spurs innovation. And innovation is essential to maintaining our technology leadership in the data storage industry. Teams solve problems better and innovate more when they come from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.”
“The Gayla” – featuring headliner comedian Paula Poundstone – will further honor Colorado First Gentleman Marlon Reis with this year’s individual Changemaker Award, recognizing his advocacy efforts on behalf of local LGBTQ+ organizations.
