“We give to a variety of organizations and causes. There’s so much need out there. In addition, it’s so easy to work with the foundation to realize my grandmother’s wishes.”
It was Lauren Voigt’s grandmother who helped set the stage for her family’s future charitable giving.
“My
Donor-Advised Fund at the Community Foundation was given to me by my grandma when she passed away,” says Lauren. “When she was doing her will, she put aside some of her money for my family – myself, my brother, and I believe my cousins ,too – to be able to donate and give back to our community every year, without cutting into our own living costs.
“She set us up with DAFs, and the amount that’s in my name with the Community Foundation allows me to donate a nice sum in interest every year, to make it last as long as possible.
“I think it’s fantastic that I can give to others without worrying about how it affects my family or our lifestyle.”
Lauren adds that she and her family like to make regular charitable contributions anyway, to help
make a difference in our community, but that her DAF allows her the opportunity to give more.
“We give to a variety of organizations and causes,” she says. “There’s so much need out there. In addition, it’s so easy to work with the foundation to realize my grandmother’s wishes.”
Concludes Lauren, “I like the idea that I can carry forward what was important to my grandma.”
