“We recognize that ‘it takes a village’ to tackle and address social, economic, and environmental inequities … and other problems in our community. That’s where you come in!”
By Cindy Lindsay, Chair, Development Committee, Community Foundation Board of Trustees
As 2019 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on a year comprising both challenges and progress in our community – many of which we explore in the most recent edition of our recently-published TRENDS Report. I’m also thinking about 2020, a new year that will likely add more layers of complexity to the issues we face as a community.
As a
Trustee of your Community Foundation, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of an organization that doesn’t shy away from community concerns, focusing instead on being both responsive to our county’s most critical needs, and serving as a catalyst for positive community change. We recognize that “it takes a village” to tackle and address social, economic, and environmental inequities … and other problems in our community. That’s where
you come in!
Thanks to the amazing generosity of community members like you, the foundation accomplished a great many funding goals this year, enabling us to better support local nonprofits that serve marginalized members of our community.
With your help – and based on data from the foundation’s flagship
TRENDS Report – we awarded grants to some 150 organizations providing a range of programs and services in health, education, community leadership, civic engagement, the arts and culture, our environment, and more. As such, we’ve helped meet the needs of our increasingly diverse community – young people, seniors, and veterans, as well as Latinx and LGBTQ+ community members, people experiencing homelessness, and others. Learn more about the foundation’s
funding areas, and how some generous, community-minded donors optimize their giving by establishing
Donor-Advised Funds at the Community Foundation. Together, we accomplish more than we do alone.
Looking ahead,
TRENDS provides a blueprint for Community Foundation donors, Trustees, and staff to address inequities in our community. Indeed, the foundation’s deepening emphasis on equity reflects our commitment to ensure that everyone who calls Boulder County home has access to the resources that they need to be successful and thrive. It’s a lofty goal, but one that –
with your support, and as you consider your year-end
giving options – your Community Foundation intends to advance.
