This weekend twenty-five volunteers from The Community Foundation’s network helped two different homeowners, Doug and Joy, continue cleaning up after September’s flood.
Both residents live next to the Little Thompson River near Lyons and Longmont (in the location of the area’s original stage coach stop) and saw the tiny creek expand beyond imagination and leave behind several feet of mud, sand, rock, and debris–inside of buildings and out.
Volunteers dug out irrigation equipment, a motor home, a barn, hung drywall, hauled wood, and filled two dumpsters with debris.
Big gratitude to all the volunteers who came out and to the Volunteer Connection for organizing our day.
Joy and Doug, it was such an honor meeting you and hearing your stories.
