Community Partner Spotlight: Quish & Co.

“I think of the Community Foundation as a pollinator.”

“I think of the Community Foundation as a pollinator,” says Mariah Quish, Principal of Quish & Co., LLC, a Boulder-based wealth management advisory and a Community Partner of the foundation. “My office is collocated with the foundation offices, and as I came to understand the work of the foundation over the past decade, I observed how foundation staff identify and implement the best ideas about what needs to happen to make our community better.”

Mariah also noted the value of the foundation’s TRENDS Report – the latest edition of which will be released next month. “The foundation continually tracks and disseminates baseline data to show whether we’re improving as a community over time, or where we may be backsliding…and how we can better assist the most vulnerable among us.”

So when a spot opened up on the foundation’s Investment Committee, Mariah welcomed the opportunity to get involved. “I realized that – besides supporting the foundation through contributions – I could also offer my talent in terms of finance expertise to help make a difference.

“It was a natural fit to give of both my time and resources, and it’s been great serving on the committee, allocating the foundation’s portfolio of passive investments. We decide which passive funds to invest in, like ETFs, thereby lowering business risk to just market risk. In other words, going with the market and getting the return of the market, with only minor fees.”

Similarly, Mariah guides her clients – in and beyond Colorado – in understanding their finances and making the choices that are best for them. “We’re not affiliated with any broker dealer,” she says. “We’re an independent registered investment advisory, which means we can provide truly unbiased investment advice…and a big part of that is helping people feel empowered – even joyful – about reaching their financial goals.”
