Cultivating a More Equitable Boulder County: A Message from Tatiana Hernandez

As we settle into the new year, I want to acknowledge some of what we are observing in our community.

In this moment of uncertainty and transition, we are seeing interest in reinvesting time, energy, and resources locally. We’re hearing anxieties about changing policies at the national level and concerns for our fellow community members who might be affected directly by those changes. And we’re often asked, “What’s the best way to help?”

For three decades, Community Foundation Boulder County has worked in collaboration with the community to nurture ideas and mobilize resources to solve big problems, and this moment is no different. Our work, rooted in our values of trust, humanity, and collaboration, to cultivate a more equitable Boulder County will continue.

We will continue to provide flexible, general operating support through our Community Trust Fund. We will continue to listen to and support Latino-serving organizations through our BRAVO Fund. We will continue to listen to and support LGBTQ+-serving organizations through our Open Door Fund. We will continue to champion climate justice through our Environmental Trust. Most importantly, we will continue to listen to and respond to the needs of our community as they arise to the best of our ability.

We are fortunate to live in a community that has a history of prioritizing equity and inclusivity. Our community has built a strong set of policies and support systems to continue those priorities as the world around us changes. Together, we will stay true to a vision for Boulder County where all can feel safe, have opportunities for success, and build a fulfilling life.
