We are almost halfway through 2022 and already, as with the last several years, our community has been asked to demonstrate resilience and empathy that, thankfully, we have in abundance. At the beating heart of our remarkable community is the important work of so many generous and dedicated people who step up to meet the daily needs of Boulder County in innovative ways, not just in crises. We are so pleased to once again get back to work supporting those who do this important work on the ground through our grantmaking fund, the Community Trust.
As many of you know, the Community Trust addresses broad needs throughout Boulder County and everything about the Community Trust this year will be very familiar to those who have been our partners in this work before. The grant cycle will be managed by the talented Sarah Mikkelsen, a longtime partner of many of the practitioners in the field as well as a trusted colleague of those of us here at CFBC. Sarah will be leading this year’s Community Trust grant cycle that will once again be broken up into two review periods: one for proposals focused on Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, or Animal Care & Welfare (CT 1). The other for Health & Human Services or Civic Engagement proposals (CT 2).
Once we release the RFP for the Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, and Animal Care & Welfare (CT 1) on June 29th, applicants will have until August 3rd to submit their proposals. We intend to notify CT 1 grantees in late September if they were awarded a grant for 2022. We will open the second round of applications for Health & Human Services or Civic Engagement proposals, the CT 2 RFP, on August 18 and will notify those grantees the second week of November. All of these dates and deadlines can be found on our grant timeline page.
To award these grants, we will continue to rely upon a community-driven grant review process that involves more than 75 Boulder County residents volunteering 2,500 hours to review proposals from nonprofit organizations and recommend grants.
We are grateful to our partner, Mission Launch, as well as the dozens of nonprofit leaders, donors, and community leaders that have provided insight, foresight, and feedback on the Community Trust focus and process over the last year. Your voices have been heard, which is why there are no changes to the focus and process in 2022. We will continue to work closely with the community to co-design the future of the Community Trust, and best serve the needs of Boulder County moving forward into the 2023 cycle.
Again, we are so pleased to get back to this ongoing work with our amazing community partners who have faced never-ending uncertainty in these trying times. Without their partnership and the partnership of our donors, our community wouldn’t have the resilience and empathy we have been forced to continually flex not just through 2022, but for the last several years.
