In an inspired and inspiring celebration of the ever-evolving local Zeitgeist, the Museum of Boulder provides engaging experiences for visitors to explore the continuing history of the region.
Specifically, the museum collects, preserves, and presents Boulder history in ways that provide a connection to the past, context for the present, and a vision for the future.
“Funding support from the Community Foundation last year contributed to our community engagement and visitor contemplation,” says Carolyn Booth, Director of Development and Communications. “Together, we’re enabling our community to value the place where we live and work, and to better understand where we’ve come from.”
Indeed, through dynamic exhibits and programs, the new museum – which opened on May 17, 2018 – sees itself as a welcoming place, and a catalyst for conversation.
“The Boulder Experience Gallery and our ‘Seeing’ Through Touching project served more than 27K constituents,” adds Carolyn. “Support from the Community Foundation was critical in creating an inclusive environment for visitors to learn, reflect, and have fun.”
Free with museum admission, the
Boulder Experience Gallery guides visitors through displays, and interactive and multimedia experiences that bring to life the history of Boulder from its earliest days to milestones representing cultural, scientific, and economic change. Stories range from the travels of the Arapaho to the building of the Kepler telescope by Ball Aerospace.
According to Carolyn, foundation funding also improved the museum’s accessibility for visually impaired visitors, and supported engaging teens involved in the “Seeing” project in dialogues about blind access.
