On this day of celebration of Juneteenth, your Community Foundation Boulder County must acknowledge this week’s two significant U.S. Supreme Court decisions.
Dear Friends,
On this day of celebration of Juneteenth, your Community Foundation Boulder County must acknowledge this week’s two significant U.S. Supreme Court decisions.
-The Court ruled Monday that gay and transgender employees are protected from employment discrimination under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Such a decision stands to protect 8.1M workers in the United States – many of whom are economically vulnerable with one in five LGBTQ+ people living in poverty.
-The Court on Thursday preserved the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, protecting 700K people (a.k.a. Dreamers) from deportation.
These decisions give us hope and remind us that much work is still needed to ensure equality and equity for all our friends and neighbors. They also remind us that there is much work left to do. What can you do to further help our LGBTQ+ neighbors and local Dreamers?
– Urge Congress to pass the
Equality Act to provide consistent and explicit non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people. Donate to Community Foundation Boulder County’s
Open Door Fund, to support important programs and services for Boulder’s LGBTQ+ community.
-Urge the Senate to pass
The Dream and Promise Act, which will provide a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers and immigrants with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and to vote on the
Heroes Act, which would automatically extend work permits for Dreamers. Donate to Community Foundation Boulder County’s Immigration Fund which helps Dreamers cover application fees to renew their DACA status and work permits. For information, contact

Community Foundation Boulder County is committed to being a community catalyst for good, alongside donors and partners like you. We believe our community is stronger when all people – women and men, children, older adults, immigrants, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, those with varying abilities and from all faiths – are respected, welcomed, and invited to share their assets and contributions in community building.
We stand with others, in Boulder County and beyond, who courageously strive to build more inclusive communities rather than walls of division. We remain wholeheartedly committed to social justice for our most marginalized and vulnerable people and for the care of threatened environments. We believe in the power of art and music to improve our lives and community.
Now, more than ever, we seek opportunities for local action and invite you to join us in our ongoing leadership work that includes grantmaking, outreach, and advocacy.
We accomplish more together than we do alone.
