“We recognize the benefits of a vibrant, inclusive, healthy community – and we know that doesn’t happen on its own.”
When Morgan McMillan joined the staff of the Community Foundation in the spring of 2002 as Programs Associate, becoming a member of our Legacy Society wasn’t yet on her radar. Today, however, she and her husband – Gavin McMillan, Project Manager at Element Properties – are committed to giving back to our community.
“This is our home,” says Morgan. “It’s where we’re raising our kids.
“We also recognize the benefits of a vibrant, inclusive, healthy community – and we know that doesn’t happen on its own. We believe the Community Foundation has been, and will continue to be, a place that invites current and emerging community leaders to share their visions, connect with resources, and take action to build a better future.”
Morgan’s association with the foundation is inspiring: in her 15 years as a full-time staffer, she advanced from Programs Associate to Vice President of Community Leadership, wearing many hats along the way and coming to appreciate the reach and impact of the foundation across Boulder County.
Continues Morgan, “Gavin and I know that – despite everything we love about this community – we still have a lot of work to do to build a more equitable future.
“And while we hope some of the issues Boulder County struggles with today will no longer be relevant after we’re gone, the Community Foundation will always be a place with its finger on the pulse of community needs and effective community investment.
“Making a planned gift to the Community Foundation through our will was easy to set up, and aligned with our desire to leave a legacy that extends beyond our immediate family.”
