Meet the Staff: Kevin Vasquez

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a proud 5th generation Colorado Native and lived in Boulder County for 23 years. A majority of my career has been devoted to the non-profit community working in the space of higher education and environment believing in the mission and vision of service-related organizations. By advancing philanthropy and organizational collaboration, I believe we can solve our most pressing issues locally and globally.

Why the community foundation?

I love the community foundation model where we are not siloed in our efforts to support the people and organizations in Boulder County to advance programs and services. I feel a true collaborative effort among the staff and community to address the issues we are facing amid a changing county, state, and world

What excites you about working in development?

I really feel like development is a conduit to change. As development professionals we have the ability to “connect the dots” between people who want to support the incredible work happening in our community to the organizations that are actually doing it. It is fun to watch these relationships create significant change for good.

What’s the one thing you want the Boulder County community to know about our work?

That I am committed to forming collaborative efforts that will help address the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.

Which of our values most resonates with you?

I think you have seen collaboration weave its way through a lot of my answers. I am big believer in bringing together people to share ideas and resources to tackle whatever the area of focus might be.

What’s your favorite activity in Boulder County?

This is hard question because Boulder is an outdoor playground. For anyone who knows me, I love all outdoor activities and sports, so my best answer is everything outside.
