Out Boulder County combats social isolation

“We know that social connection is crucial during these times, especially for highly-affected groups like LGBTQ+ communities.”

An emerging theme in Out Boulder County’s COVID-19 LGBTQ Boulder County Community Survey confirms that social isolation tops the list of concerns among local LGBTQ+ community members.

Indeed, according to Mardi Moore, Executive Director of Out Boulder County, a grantee of your Community Foundation: “Mental well-being is very important. We know that social connection is crucial during these times, especially for highly-affected groups like LGBTQ+ communities.

“We are actively working to create plans to provide safe social connections for our community members.”

For example, Out Boulder County hosted a Virtual Netflix Viewing Party last week (“Moonlight”), and is organizing a range of other virtual events, activities – including a book club – and ongoing supports for youths, parents, trans friends and family, and other LGBTQ+ populations.
